First verse revelation of Quran
According
to Islamic tradition, the first verse of the Holy Quran was revealed to the
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) while he was in the cave of Hira, near
Mecca, in the year 610 CE. The angel Gabriel appeared to him and commanded him
to recite the words "Iqra" which means "Read" or
"Recite". The Prophet Muhammad, who was illiterate, responded that he
could not read. The angel Gabriel then recited the first verses of Surah
Al-Alaq (chapter 96 of the Quran) which are as follows:
"Read in the name of
your Lord who created - Created man from a clinging substance. Read, and your
Lord is the most Generous - Who taught by the pen - Taught man that which he
knew not."
These verses marked the
beginning of the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet Muhammad, and they
are considered to be the first verses of the Quran.
Middle verse revelation of Quran.
There
is some difference of opinion among Islamic scholars and authorities regarding
which verse is the exact middle verse of the Holy Quran, due to the fact that
the Quran contains a varying number of verses depending on the edition and
version.
One opinion is that the
middle verse of the Quran is verse number 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah, which is
known as Ayatul Kursi or the Verse of the Throne. This verse is a powerful
declaration of the greatness and majesty of Allah, and it is often recited for
protection and blessings.
Another opinion is that the
middle verse of the Quran is verse number 143 of Surah Al-Baqarah, which
contains a call to the Muslim community to establish prayer and maintain their
faith.
However, it is important to
note that both of these opinions are based on human calculations of the middle
verse and do not have any special significance or status in Islamic theology or
belief. The Quran is a holistic and complete revelation, and every verse is
equally important and valuable for Muslims to study and reflect upon.
Last verse revelation of Quran.
The last verse of the Holy Quran, according
to Islamic tradition, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
shortly before his passing away, in the year 632 CE, in the city of Medina. The
verse is from Surah Al-Maida, chapter 5 of the Quran, and it is verse number 3:
"This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My
favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion."
This verse is a declaration that the message of Islam has been completed
and perfected, and that Allah (God) has bestowed His blessings and favor upon
the believers. It also affirms the finality of the Prophet Muhammad's
prophethood and the eternal nature of the Quran as the final and complete
revelation of Allah's guidance to humanity.
